(Senior) Assistant Manager (Data Analyst, Finance)

The National University Hospital (NUH) is a tertiary hospital and major referral centre offering a comprehensive suite of specialist care for adults, women and children. The Finance department is made up of professionals with backgrounds in healthcare, corporate, data analytics, project and risk management, accounting and assurance.
The Decision Support team within the Finance department partners the clinical departments and specialties to provide insightful analytics to guide the delivery of sustainable and quality clinical care, as well as facilitate targeted capital investments. The team also covers other activities such as operationalization of MOH initiatives, KPI setting and reporting, costing and pricing of clinical services.
We are seeking a detail-oriented, analytically minded Data Analyst to join our Finance team. You will analyse financial and operational data, build insightful reports and models, and drive process automation to enhance efficiency and decision-making. The role requires strong quantitative skills, fluency with data tools, and the ability to translate complex findings for financial and non-financial stakeholders.
Job Responsibilities:
- Integrate various systems to provide solutions to Finance department for accurate automated reports.
- Work with Finance Clinical Support team to develop automated Department and Divisional Financial reports based on requirements from Finance as well as (unique) deparmental and divisional needs.
- Develop solutions for error checking and performance outliers.
- Provide solutions for big data management compliant guidelines for healthcare.
- To represent and champion digital transformation projects for Finance including but not limited to automation, big data management and adoption of A.I.
- Deliver continuous process improvements.
- Train and develop junior members of the team.
Job Requirements:
- Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Statistics, Data Science or related fields.
- Minimum 5 years' experience in data analysis or financial analysis.
- Experience in healthcare will be an added advantage
- Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage deadlines.
- Technical Skills:
- Advanced Excel (pivot tables, Power Query, automation).
- Statistical analysis including understanding of statistical methods, hypothesis testing, and confidence intervals for data validation.
- Financial modelling for budgeting, forecasting, and strategic planning.
- Familiarity with ERP/financial databases and automation of reporting workflows.
- Familiarity with anomaly detection and predictive modelling including time series data modelling will be a plus.
- SQL for querying databases and ERP systems.
- Programming for data analysis and automation (e.g. Python, R).
- Familiarity with Databricks is a plus.
- Automation & Process Optimisation:
- Design and implement automation to streamline reporting, reconciliations, and data quality checks.
- Develop workflow solutions using tools such as Power Automate or equivalent platforms.
- Identify opportunities to reduce manual effort via workflow optimisation and data integration.
- Build automated data pipelines (e.g., scheduled extracts, data quality rules).
- API integration and web services for connecting disparate systems and automating data flows Data Visualisation & Reporting.
- Data Visualisation & Reporting:
- Develop dashboards and reports in tools such as Power BI or Tableau.
- Use data storytelling to support decision-making for financial and non-financial stakeholders.
- Present findings through clear visualisations and presentations tailored to the audience.
- Data Governance & Ethics:
- Awareness of data privacy, governance, and compliance in healthcare or finance.
- Ability to support internal and external audits with accurate, automated reporting.
- Apply proper controls and validation to ensure accuracy and reliability of financial data.
