About Department and Purpose of the Position
The incumbent will be responsible for the management of assigned clinical service(s), operational planning across the continuum of care, and achieving the stated outcomes in customer service, volume & financial targets, processes and learning & growth perspectives. He/She will also work closely with Head, Ops and Clinical HODs in the department/s to raise the profile and enhance the image of USC NUH and/or supervise and lead a functional team in the department/s.

 

Key Responsibilities
Business Management

  • Responsible for achieving the volume and financial targets for the clinical services assigned, and be responsible for developing and carrying out business plans in conjunction with the clinical heads of departments/divisions to ensure that goals are reached.
  • Scope of business management includes annual financial budgeting, workplans and regular reviews with clinical heads of departments/divisions, and development of new businesses.
  • Responsible for Clinical Manpower Planning for Specialists and Juniors and working with HOD and CD to ensure succession planning.

 

Operations Planning

  • Work with Head, Ops, CDs in the master planning of department services in Kent Ridge Campus.
  • Work with Head, Ops for clinical Services Planning in NUH and NUHS
  • Mapping out and implement centres of excellence or National University Centres for assigned Departments/ Divisions

 

Clinical Services and Operations

  • Ensuring the operational management of the departments which place the patient first. The care delivered must be of value, quality and efficient.
  • Working with Head, Ops on the management of hospital-wide resources like beds, OTs, clinic space, office space, etc.
  • Promoting teamwork across the administrative and health professional staff and other departments and colleagues in NUH and NUHS.
  • Working with the NUH leadership to develop plans and ensuring implementation of continuous process improvement / review of services and care to improve NUH’s quality of care.
  • Developing innovative strategies to continually improve and achieve excellence in service delivery. Monitoring customer service standards across disciplines / programs to ensure patient satisfaction

 

Secondary Responsibilities and Duties

  • Supervising and appraising staff performance and promoting professional development of the team members under their supervision.
  • Guide and mentor junior staff.
  • Disseminate and implement hospital’s policies & procedures.
  • Ensure Policy & Procedures are current.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by supervisor

 

Key Requirements

  • Bachelor Degree from a recognised institution with at least 10 years of working experience
  • Analytical and with good communication skills (written & spoken).
  • Have practical knowledge of hospital operations.
  • Be computer literate in Microsoft Word / Excel.
  • Team player, positive, motivated and able to perform under pressure.
  • Has initiative and able to work independently.
  • Service-oriented and customer-focused.
