The Art Therapist will provide art therapy as part of the psychological services provided by the Department of Psychological Medicine. The Art Therapist will conduct sessions for patients who are experiencing mental health difficulties across age groups (child, adolescent, adult, geriatric). Sessions may be conducted individually or in groups, within inpatient wards as well as outpatient specialist clinics.
Responsibilities:
- Assess and manage patients referred for art therapy/psychotherapy independently and implement appropriate evidence-based practices.
- Practice within areas of professional competence and seek clinical support from supervisor/other healthcare professionals, when appropriate.
- Accurate and timely communication with all relevant stakeholders.
- To take on more complex cases requiring specialised knowledge.
- Document patient records accurately and timely.
- Contribute to the development of material, eg. for art therapy groups in the wards.
- Monitor and ensure that the Psychology/Art Therapy section consistently meets or exceeds the clinical and service standard/targets.
- Apply conduct, ethics values and relevant legislation to uphold the integrity and reputation of the organisation and the profession.
Requirements:
- Masters Degree in Art Therapy or related field, from an accredited university.
- Registered or eligibile for registration with a recognised Play Therapy professional body.
- Knowledge of treatment using art therapy in the hospital and psychiatric setting will be an added advantage.
- Able to work within a multi-disciplinary team.
- Team player who is motivated to provide a high standard of patient care and also able to work independently.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills.
