Overview

The Assistant Director, External Partnerships & Innovation will drive the institution’s vision for impactful collaboration with external stakeholders in the life sciences and healthcare ecosystem. This role will spearhead engagement with pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies, philanthropic foundations, patient- and people-involvement advisory groups, start-up ventures, and academic institutions globally. The Assistant Director will develop and execute strategies to foster innovation, research translation, partnership development, and community impact, leveraging scientific, clinical, and entrepreneurial expertise.

 

Job Responsibilities

The incumbent will play  a key role in developing, building and sustaining NUHS’s global footprint in research and will be responsible for

Requirements

Qualification Required and Area of Discipline

Ph.D. in Life Sciences, Biomedical Sciences, or related field required.

 

Required Competencies and Capabilities (Skills, Experiences and Professional Licences)

  • Extensive experience (minimum 8 years) in research, innovation management, biotech/pharma industry, and/or academic-industry partnerships.
  • Demonstrated success in securing and managing external funding, grants, or investments.
  • Track record of initiating and managing partnerships across sectors, including start-ups and philanthropic organizations.
  • Strong cross-cultural communication, negotiation, and project management skills.
  • Experience engaging patient and public stakeholders is highly valued.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset and ability to operate in a dynamic, cross-disciplinary environment.
  • Strategic thinker with excellent networking, stakeholder management, and public speaking skills.
