Overview and purpose of the position:

As part of the Research Office Finance team, the incumbent will play a critical role in ensuring the efficient and accurate processing of claims.  You will be responsible for investigating, verifying, and processing claims from various sources. This position demands a keen eye for detail, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to communicate effectively with both internal and external stakeholders.

 

Key responsibilities:

  • Claim Verification: Verify the authenticity and accuracy of incoming claims, ensuring they meet all required criteria and documentation.
  • Investigation: Conduct in-depth research to resolve any discrepancies, inconsistencies, or potential issues within the claims.
  • Data Entry: Accurately input and record claims data into the company’s claim processing system, maintaining high levels of data integrity.
  • Petty Cash Count: Assist in the regular counting and reconciliation of petty cash funds, ensuring proper documentation and compliance with company policies.
  • Audit for Grant Claims: Participate in grant claim audits, working closely with team to ensure compliance with grant funding requirements.
  • Communication: Collaborate with claimants and other departments to gather additional information, request missing documentation, or provide updates on claim status.
  • Documentation: Maintain detailed records of all claim activities, interactions, and outcomes.
  • Timely Processing: Meet established deadlines for claim processing and ensure prompt resolution of claims.
  • Ad Hoc Matters: Handle any other ad hoc mattes that may arise.

 

Requirements:

  • A Degree in a relevant field (e.g., Accountancy, Business, Finance, or a related discipline).
  • Prior experience in claims processing or a similar role is preferred.
  • Attention to details and high level of accuracy.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Organized, independent and a collaborative team player.
  • Proficiency in using claim processing software and MS Office applications.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
