Department of Pathology, National University Hospital (NUH)

As a member of the National University Health System (NUHS), the Department of Pathology in NUH provides centralized pathology services to all hospitals within the NUHS Cluster. In addition, the department provides pathology services to external hospitals and laboratories outside the Cluster. The department has a strong clinical service culture combined with research and involvement in undergraduate, residency and fellowship training.

 

Consultant Histopathologist

The Department of Pathology, National University Hospital (NUH) invites applications for Consultant Pathologist with expertise in general histopathology, frozen section consultation and assessment of cytological specimens. The candidate will be deployed to provide histopathology and cytopathology services either within the NUHS Cluster or in external hospitals served by NUHS.

 

Responsibilities

  • Work independently as a Consultant Pathologist in a general hospital served by the department
  • Complement existing expertise in the department, which includes 6 contributing authors in the WHO Classification of liver, skin, gastrointestinal, gynecological, hematolymphoid and head and neck tumours 
  • Clinical duties include:

           a. Reporting of histopathology and cytopathology cases, which may include the use of digital pathology 

           b. Performance of frozen section consultations 

           c. Attendance at clinico-pathology conferences 

           d. Perform administrative duties as directed by the Head, Department of Pathology 

 

Requirements

  • Established track record of clinical excellence in anatomical pathology;
  • Broad experience and deep expertise in the practice of general histopathology;
  • Expertise in the fields of gastrointestinal (including liver and pancreaticobiliary) pathology, breast pathology and head and neck pathology will be an advantage;
  • Possess basic and postgraduate medical qualification(s) recognized by the Singapore Medical Council such as FRCPath, FRCPA or US Board certification in Anatomical Pathology. For candidates with US Board certification, they also have at least 2 years of Fellowship in one or more pathological subspecialties;
  • Able to work independently and in a team, have an investigative nature, attention to detail;
  • Knowledge of LIS systems and use of computer applications, e.g. MS office, PowerPoint.
