About the Centre for Research in Health Systems Performance (CRiHSP)

Optimizing the performance of health systems is essential to ensuring the wellbeing and longevity of populations worldwide. Singapore is particularly well placed to lead research in this field as its health system has been consistently ranked as one of the best in the world based in independent evaluation with the Global Burden of Disease data. The new Centre for Research in Health Systems Performance (CRiHSP) aims to advance research in this area within National University Health System (NUHS) and Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine of the National University of Singapore (NUS) as the leading centre for research in halrth system in Asia with the core functions of research, health pòlicy intelligence, capacity building and evaluation.

 

The multidisciplinary team of researchers in health systems (health services and policy researchers, data scientists, social scientists, and others), and administrators working in CRiHSP will provide an exciting and dynamic place in which people of diverse backgrounds collaborate towards the common goal of achieving excellence in Health Systems Research.

 

About the role

This role is the lead administrator to support all CRiHSP’s activities to achieve its overarching mission. He/she will play a key role in strategising and supporting shaping the development of the admin structure of the Centre, including recruitment of the relevant administrative team, and contribute to leadership in both the strategic direction and daily operations of the Centre.

 

Job Description

  • Provide administrative leadership andsupport academic team in strategic research matters. Draft and manage research projects' timelines to ensure it is on track to achieve its desired outcomes. Track the progress of the department's key research performance indicators.
  • Conduct resource planning (budget, manpower, space etc) to support the various initiatives of the Centre. Manage resources throughout the implementation of the Centre's activities.
  • Support Director in drafting papers and presentations to update senior leadership on progress of Centre's strategic plans.
  • Provide administrative leadership and oversight towards Centre's research activities and initiatives. Support Director and PIs in preparing for grants application, budget planning, grants application, monitoring grants' utilisation rates, tracking timelines, drafting progress reports etc.
  • Oversee the organising of Centre's teaching and research workshops to upskill the NUHS community on health services research and evaluation.
  • Provides general support to the policy and evaluation functions in line with responsibilities for the research and education programmes.
  • Support Director in strategising the creation of a pipeline of talent to build capacities and capabilities to support the Centre's Mission and workplans. Provide admin support for recruiting talents and appointing collaborators. In partnership with HR, develop creative ways to attract niche research talents.
  • Develop and implement a communications strategy using various platforms (website, social media etc) to widen Centre's profile and outreach efforts.
  • Oversee daily administrative and operations (including financial, procurement & HR) matters and ensured they are carried out with high quality and in compliance with NUHS and NUS policies.

Job Requirements

  • Degree holder in relevant field
  • At least 10 years of working experience (at least 4 years in a leadership role) in a research or academic organisation.
  • Strong communication skills in English, both written and spoken
  • Proven ability to lead a team
  • Highly developed problem-solving skills and adept at managing complex problems
  • Outcome-orientation with excellent organizational and project management skills, and attention to detail
  • Ability to work with culturally diverse populations
