About Department and Purpose of the Position

The National University Cancer Institute, Singapore (NCIS) is a national specialist centre under the National University Health System (NUHS). It is the only public cancer centre in Singapore treating both paediatric and adult cancers in one facility.

 

We are seeking a dedicated Manager to join our team at NCIS. This position plays a pivotal role in overseeing patient billing, appointments, financial counselling, and providing leadership to a team of two staff members. The Manager will work closely with the team to ensure efficient operations and exceptional patient care within our organisation.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Patient Billing Management
    • Oversee the accurate and timely procesing of patient bills and invoices
    • Resolve billing discrepancies and ensure compliance with insurance and regulatory requirements
    • Monitor accounts receivable and coordinate with finance depatment for timely payouts
  • Appointment Scheduling
    • Manage and optimise chemotherapy appointment scheduling systems and workflows to ensure optimal patient flow and minimise wait times
    • Coordinate with staff to schedule appointments efficiently, considering patient preferences, medical priorities and NCIS satellite centres
  • Financial Counselling
    • Provide guidance and support to patients regarding financial aspects of their treatment
    • Assist patients in understanding insurance coverage, payment options, and financial assistance programs
  • Staff Supervision
    • Mentor and supervise a team of two junior staff members
    • Conduct regular performance reviews and provide ongoing training and development opportunities
    • Ensure junior staff adhere to organisational policies and procedures
  • Operational Support
    • Collaborate with other departments to streamline processes related to patient care and administrative functions
    • Implement improvements in billing systems, appointment scheduling, and financial counseling services
    • Equipped with excellent knowledge of departmental processes, lead end-to-end service development, including conceptualisation, execution, maintenance and change management
  • Compliance & Reporting
    • Ensure adherence to legal and regulatory requirements related to patient billing and financial counselling
    • Prepare reports on billing activities, appointment scheduling metrics, and financial counseling outcomes

 

Key Requirements

  • Bachelor Degree in Healthcare, Business Administration, or a related field. A Master's Degree will be an advantage
  • Required 5 years' experience in healthcare administration in the supervisory capacity, preferably in a clinical setting or cancer centre will be an advantage
  • Strong understanding of medical billing practices, insurance procedures, and financial counseling.
  • Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively manage and motivate a team
  • Be able to lead and develop a team based on their strengths and capabilities
  • Exceptional organisational and time management skills, with keen attention to details
  • Proficiency in using healthcare management software and Microsoft Office Suite
