About Department and Purpose of the Position

 

As a Medical Evaluator within the Patient Liaison Centre, NUH Referral Centre, you will play a crucial role in assessing the medical needs and conditions of international patients seeking treatment in our facility.  Working closely with patients, doctors, and other stakeholders, you will ensure the delivery of high-quality and culturally sensitive care.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

Primary Responsibilities and Duties (80%)

  • Conduct comprehensive medical evaluation for cases referred for treatment.
  • Perform first assessment of patient’s medical conditions, including reviewing of medical records, and interpreting diagnostic test.  Discuss the case with the referring doctors and consultant in NUH on the acceptance of such referral.
  • Work closely with clinical team to develop individualised treatment plans tailored to the unique needs of the patients.
  • Communicate effectively with patients and their referring doctors/ referring institution to gather medical histories, explain evaluation procedures, and express any concerns and questions.
  • Prepared detailed reports summarizing assessment findings, treatment recommendation, and follow up plans based on consultant-in-charge notes.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of patients’ evaluations, treatments and communications.
  • Ensure compliance with international healthcare standards, regulations and protocols.
  • Focus on getting the medical information evaluated and communicated.
  • Close interpretation and firm decision taking for the direct admission cases

 

 Secondary Responsibilities and Duties (20%):

  • Monitoring and mentor the PLC staff response to the email and request and the time frame of providing appointment confirmations letters or opinions.
  • Take an active role in handling VIP and special medical cases, ensuring they receive the highest level of attention and care.
  • Supervise the preparation and review of medical reports, progress reports, and referrals to sponsoring authorities.
  • Engage in other responsibilities as required, contributing to the overall effectiveness and efficiency of the PLC.
  • Any other duties.

 

Key Requirements

  • A medical degree and relevant postgraduate qualifications.
  • Proven experience in patient evaluation, medical diagnosis, and healthcare management
  • Familiarity with international healthcare standards and practices
  • Strong analytical and decision – making abilities
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with an emphasis on clarity and empathy
  • Ability to work effectively in a multi-disciplinary team 
  • Proficiency in managing and mentoring staffs
  • Cultural sensitivity and adaptability to diverse patient backgrounds
