The Senior Biostatistician will support medical researchers within the National University Health System (NUHS) by providing advanced statistical expertise for clinical trials, observational studies, and other health-related research projects. This position involves high-level statistical consultation with clinicians and investigators, contributing to the design, analysis, and interpretation of complex research studies for grant applications, manuscripts, and presentations. In addition to research support, the Senior Biostatistician will mentor junior biostatisticians and actively contribute to the academic mission by conducting workshops and full-semester courses for postgraduate students.

 

The purpose of the Senior Biostatistician position is to enhance the quality and scientific rigor of medical and public health research through the expert application of statistical methodologies. By guiding study design and analytical strategies, the Senior Biostatistician ensures the validity, integrity, and reproducibility of research outcomes. This role also fosters capacity-building in biostatistics by mentoring junior staffs and advancing statistical literacy among medical researchers and postgraduate students through structured teaching and training initiatives.

 

Key responsibilities:

  • Perform statistical analyses using appropriate methodologies.
  • Support the design and analysis of clinical trials and epidemiological studies.
  • Conduct meta-analysis for systematic review studies.
  • Contribute to the preparation of study proposal, statistical analysis reports, and scientific manuscripts.
  • Provide statistical consultations to clinicians, medical researchers, and students.
  • Mentor the junior biostatistician.
  • Conduct workshops and full-semester courses.
  • Manage administration tasks, such as tracking and renewing software licenses for the Biostatistics Unit.

 

Job Requirements:

  • A Master’s or PhD degree in Statistics, Biostatistics, or a related field
  • Proficiency in statistical software such as SPSS, STATA, SAS and R.
  • Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • At least 8 - 10 years of experience in a biostatistics or data analysis role.
  • Familiarity with clinical research processes and Good Clinical Practice (GCP).
