Overview*

 

Reporting to the Deputy Chief Executive, the incumbent will drive high standards in Workplace Safety and Health (WSH) practices and foster a strong WSH culture in NUHS. He/she will provide WSH support at NUHS Group Level as the NUHS Total Workplace Safety and Health Oversight Committee Secretariat and be the main liaison for implementing NUHS-wide WSH initiatives and coordination of WSH efforts across NUHS. Other key responsibilities include NUHS wide policy alignment, promulgation of best practices across NUHS, and any follow-up as required by Ministry of Manpower. He/she will also support the Regional Health System Office (RHSO) by ensuring that community services work processes and activities comply with work safety requirements and legal legislations. He/she will demonstrate that WSH is a priority for RHSO by publishing the WSH commitment, reviewing and tracking WSH targets and performance, allocating sufficient resources for WSH, promoting WSH proactively, and ensure that staff have the necessary knowledge on WSH.

 

Job Responsibilities*

 

(I) Provide WSH Support at NUHS Group Level

  • Main liaison for implementing NUHS-wide WSH initiatives and coordination of WSH efforts across NUHS
  • Key responsibilities include NUHS wide policy alignment, promulgation of best practices across NUHS, and any follow-up as required by Ministry of Manpower.
  • NUHS Total Workplace Safety and Health Oversight Committee Secretariat
  • Handle other tasks and duties as assigned

 

(II) Provide WSH Support for Regional Health System Office

  • Demonstrate that WSH is a priority for RHSO by publishing the WSH commitment, reviewing and tracking WSH targets and performance, allocating sufficient resources for WSH, promoting WSH proactively, and ensure that staff have the necessary knowledge on WSH
  • Ensure all risk assessments are robust to address foreseeable risks that may impact RHSO’s operations and the environment
  • Manage hazardous activities by external contractors and vendors
  • Conduct safety inspections and internal audits to ensure work processes and activities comply with safety requirements and legal legislations
  • Conduct incidents investigations with available resources and interested parties with the intention of providing a corrective actions and prevention actions to mitigate any recurrence
  • Monitor reported workplace incidents through online incident reporting system and analyse submissions and seek clarification requiring further investigation
  • Suggest and propose safety awareness programmes
  • Provide safety related trainings to promote workplace safety requirements and improve the overall safety standards
  • Liaise with relevant government agencies and external parties on matters related to WSH requirements

 

Requirements*

 

  • At least Degree specialised in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field.
  • Experience in the healthcare industry is an added advantage.
  • Licensed and Registered MOM WSH Officer
  • Well versed in WSH Act and requirements
  • Have developed a risk management implementation plan (bizSAFE Level 3 and higher)
  • A team player who is able to work independently in a fast-paced environment to meet deadlines
  • Strong interpersonal and communication (both written and oral) with the ability to interact with various levels of stakeholders
  • Well-versed in MS Office and able to work under pressure
