As the Nurse-Scientist & Innovation Lead, this joint clinical-academic role provides strategic leadership in nursing research, innovation, and practice transformation. The position bridges front-line clinical care with systems-level strategy, contributing to the advancement of the nursing profession and the delivery of high-quality, evidence-based, and sustainable care models within NUHS.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Nursing Research Leadership (50%)
- Provide strategic direction for nursing research initiatives aligned with national and institutional priorities (e.g. workforce sustainability, population health, patient safety, digital transformation).
- Lead competitive grant-funded research in collaboration with inter-disciplinary academic and clinical partners, with measurable impact on care delivery and policy.
- Strengthen the scholarly capacity of the nursing workforce by mentoring Nurse Researchers, Advanced Practice Nurses, and undergraduate/postgraduate students in research and knowledge translation.
- Contribute to academic outputs, including peer-reviewed publications, policy briefs, and practice toolkits.
2. Innovation Leadership (20%)
- Lead the Community of Practice (CoP) in Nursing Innovation, fostering a culture of co-design and front-line problem solving.
- Oversee the development, implementation, and evaluation of nursing-led innovations in care delivery, technology integration, and workforce solutions.
- Engage with interprofessional and informatics teams to align innovations with digital health strategies and operational efficiency goals.
- Engage with nurses, interprofessional teams and public health administrators to co-design nurse-led models of care that address system gaps and population health needs.
3. Strategic Systems Contribution (10%)
- Contribute to system-level initiatives through appointments to GCN office, CoNE, or MOH workgroups, particularly in areas such as APN/nursing professional development, clinical autonomy, and integrated care models.
- Inform institutional and national nursing strategies using insights from health system leadership and global fellowship experiences (e.g. Philadelphia).
- Represent NUHS in regional and international networks to share innovation and research outcomes, strengthening Singapore’s nursing reputation globally.
4. Clinical Engagement (20%)
- Maintain a clinical appointment (in outpatient/community care?) to ensure the relevance and applicability of research and innovation efforts.
- Lead service development and quality improvement initiatives, drawing on research findings and international best practices.
- Advise nursing leadership on clinical protocol development, documentation practices, and practice transformation initiatives.
Job Requirements:
- Registered Nurse with a postgraduate qualification (PhD) in Nursing.
- Demonstrated track record in leading nursing research projects, publishing in high impact nursing journals as lead author and securing research funding.
- Previous clinical expertise in a high-acuity or transitional care setting.
- Experience in innovation leadership, informing policy development, and cross-sector collaboration.
- Strong strategic, communication, and mentorship skills consistent with the expectations of a nursing leader.
