Job Purpose:

Perform technical duties under the supervision of pharmacists to ensure safe, efficient and timely distribution of drugs in NUH. Assist the senior pharmacist in charge to provide supervision to pharmacy support staff and to coordinate activities within a section to ensure smooth workflow and continuous improvement. Dispense medicines to the patients according to department policies and guidelines.

 

Job Responsibilities:

 

Pharmacy Operational duties:

  • Processing medication order
  • Picking, packing and labeling of medicines in accordance to Standard Operatiing Procedures ( SOP)
  • Perform the following medication reconciliation steps: counting, sorting and typing of prescription
  • Perform billing function

 

Automation Management:

  • Deblistering of drugs from primary packaging ( IPAS and OPAS)
  • Manual Unit dose repackaging
  • Unit dose repackaging using ATDPS
  • Resolve repackaging problems
  • Provide oversight for process of automation system
  • Ensures that setup of new automated dispensing cabinets are correctly done
  • Resolve system transaction problems
  • Ensure repackaged products from external vendor are according to specified quality products
  • Recommend improved process or with new features
  • Manage outsourced repackaging vendors on product quality
  • Ensure automation process are optimal

 

Provision of quality customer service:

  • Provide professional and courteous service to all patients/customers

 

Performing Clinical Duties (to assist pharmacist):

  • Nurse Request orders ( For Inpatient and A&E pharmacy)
  • Dispensing of medications to patients in accordance to Standard Operating Procedures (SOP)
  • To carry out simple bedside counseling at dispensing ( Inpatient)
  • Assist in the sales of Pharmacy (P) medications under supervision of a pharmacist in accordance with institutional protocol (OUTPATIENT)
  • Supervise the dispensing workflow and ensure that the team maintains high standards of dispensing
  • Ensure compliance to dispensing/ medication management policies, SOPs and medication safety policies and guidelines through conducting regular audit

 

Inventory Management

  • Ensure stocks are stocked up properly and tidily according to FIRST-in-First-Out requirement and stipulate storage conditions
  • Topping up omnicell ward stock in respective wards
  • Ensure a proper system of pre-packing medications
  • Ensure correct receipt of goods
  • Carry out cycle counts and stock accurately and accordingly to the Standard Operating Procedures

 

Security Management in the Pharmacy:

  • Ensure the security system are active at all times
  • Ensures the security of stocks, premises and stored information at all times
  • Always alert to security concerns
  • Take action to prevent security incidents

 

Job Requirements:

 

  • Fresh Diploma Graduate (in Pharmaceutical Science) or minimum 3 years (for Pharmacy Assistant job track) pharmacy related working experience in Singapore preferred.
  • Possess Certified Pharmacy Technician Certification (CPTC) OR Diploma in Pharmaceutical Science OR foreign Pharmacy degree (not recognised by Singapore Pharmacy Council)
  • Completed Basic Skill Test OR Certified Pharmacy Technician Certification (CPTC)
  • Completed NUHS Medication Management Course for Pharmacy Technician (for technicians who are performing clinical duties)
  • Possess Aseptic Dispensing Certification (for pharmacy laboratory and cancer centre pharmacy technicians)
  • Possess basic dispensary skills
  • Have initiative and able to work independently to achieve goals of the department.
