As a research fellow, the position holder will be in charge of setting and running a chronic disease database as primary work in Alexandra hospital. The candidate will also have ample opportunity to pursue his/her own research and apply for fundings.

  

In addition, administrative work which may be related to research or general work will also be needed for this position. The staff will have opportunities to help in the administration of not just the database but also as per directions of the PI.

 

Primary Responsibilities

1.     Setting up a chronic disease database and analysis.

2.     To approach patients to invite them to participate in ethics approved clinical research studies, if required.

3.     Write and review research papers, present research outcomes and develop collaborations.

4.     Contribute to project management and provide guidance to more junior researchers.

5.     Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

 

Secondary Duties

1.     Develop your own portfolio of research work and projects.

2.     Working with PI(s) perform research grant administrative matters such as, (not limited to):

         a)    Supporting PIs with variation & extension requests, working with the ethics committee and submission of claims.

         b)    Assisting with Annual progress reports, Mid-term and Final review reports.

         c)     Assume additional responsibilities as assigned by the reporting officer/HOD.

 

Job Requirements :

1.    PhD and/or Degree in Nursing / Medicine or related discipline.

2.    Minimum 4-5 years of experience in medical research is a plus.

3.    Previous experience with setting up a database will be useful.

4.    Ability to work independently, and communicate effectively in English,  both verbally and written.

5.    Driven and motivated, with potential to achieve research excellence.

6.    Ability to generate experimental results leading to high impact publications.
