Senior / Enrolled Nurse (Diabetic Mellitus Complication Screening Nurse)
Role:
To be responsible in providing safe patient care according to established hospital policies and
standards of practice as a Diabetic Mellitus (DM) Complication Screening Nurse.
Patient Population:
Patients under the care of NUH Specialists for Diabetes who have not been screened and those who are due for Diabetes Foot /Eye screening.
Specific Roles and Responsibilities:
The staff should be trained and obtain knowledge and skills related to Diabetes Foot / Eye screen:
- Assess, perform and plan diabetic foot / eye screening for the specified patient population.
- Provide appropriate Escalation / referral of abnormal foot /eye findings.
- Provide diabetes foot care education and management plan for patients and caregivers.
- Track Doctor’s list to identify patients who are due for screening.
- Schedule appointments on the day of technical visits or Doctor’s appointments.
Specific Competencies:
- Staff to attend the training program provided in diabetes Clinic.
- Proficiency and completion of required log-book during training. (10 procedures each for foot and Eye)
