Overview and purpose of the position

The Biostatistician will support medical researchers within NUHS by providing statistical expertise for clinical trials, observational studies, and other health-related research projects. Working under the mentorship of senior biostatisticians, the Biostatistician will assist with study design, data management, statistical analysis, and interpretation of results for grant applications, manuscripts, and presentations.

 

The purpose of the Biostatistician position is to enhance the quality and impact of medical and health sciences research through the application of sound statistical methodology, and to ensure the validity and reproducibility of research findings by supporting research teams in the planning and analysis phases of studies.

 

Key responsibilities:

  • Perform statistical analyses using appropriate methodologies.
  • Support the design and analysis of clinical trials and epidemiological studies.
  • Conduct meta-analysis for systematic review studies.
  • Contribute to the preparation of study proposal, statistical analysis reports, and scientific manuscripts.
  • Provide statistical consultations to clinicians, medical researchers, and students.
  • Participate in team meetings and communicate statistical findings effectively.

 

Job Requirements:

  • A bachelor's or Master’s degree in Statistics, Biostatistics, or a related field
  • Required Competencies and Capabilities (Skills, Experiences and Professional Licences)
  • Proficiency in statistical software such as SPSS, STATA, SAS and R.
  • Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Familiarity with clinical research processes and Good Clinical Practice (GCP) is a plus.
  • At least 2 years of experience in a biostatistics or data analysis role (internships or academic project experience acceptable).
  • Fresh graduate may be considered.
