Senior Manager, Artificial Intelligence Office (1-yr contract)

Reporting to the Deputy Group Chief Technology Officer, you will take charge of designing, deploying, and maintaining AWS-based cloud solutions that support mission-critical healthcare applications. You will collaborate with IT, DevOps, and security teams to build highly available, HIPAA-compliant cloud architectures that ensure the security, scalability, and performance of electronic health records (EHR), imaging systems, and AI-driven healthcare analytics. The incumbent will propose, develop, and implement advanced Artificial Intelligence / machine learning models and pipelines to augment clinical workflows in NUHS cluster.

 

Key Responsibilities

You will be responsible for the following:

  • Design and implement AWS cloud infrastructure to support healthcare applications, ensuring compliance with HIPAA, HITRUST, and other industry regulations.
  • Deploy and optimize AWS services (EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, Fargate, ECS, EKS, CloudFormation, etc.) for performance, cost efficiency, and scalability.
  • Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform or AWS CloudFormation for automated provisioning and configuration management.
  • Secure cloud environments by enforcing AWS security best practices, IAM roles/policies, encryption, and multi-factor authentication.
  • Monitor and maintain cloud health using AWS CloudWatch, AWS Config, and third-party tools like Datadog, Splunk, or Prometheus.
  • Develop and manage CI/CD pipelines using AWS CodePipeline, CodeBuild, and GitHub Actions to support DevOps workflows for healthcare applications.
  • Support healthcare data management by implementing secure data lakes, AWS Glue, and analytics solutions for AI/ML-driven patient care insights.
  • Troubleshoot performance issues and optimize cloud environments for resilience and reliability, ensuring minimal downtime for healthcare services.
  • Collaborate with healthcare IT teams to integrate cloud-based solutions with existing on-premises systems and electronic health records (EHRs).
  • Assist in the architectural diagram and SRB clearance for all cloud solutions in the department.
  • Engage with executive leadership, healthcare providers, data scientists, and engineers to drive AI-enabled transformation.
  • Guide junior data scientists in the AIO team, troubleshoot problems so as to achieve end goal
  • Organising our local AI conferences, showcase NUHS AI capabilities to attract further talents
  • Develop strategic roadmaps for AI expansion, keeping in mind emerging technologies and regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor AI adoption metrics, refining strategies based on user feedback and performance analytics.
  • All other responsibilities that is requested by the Reporting Officer

 

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of AWS cloud engineering experience, preferably in a healthcare setting.
  • AWS Certified Solutions Architect (Associate or Professional) or equivalent experience.
  • Strong expertise in AWS services (EC2, RDS, Lambda, S3, IAM, VPC, CloudFront, etc.).
  • Proficiency in scripting and automation using Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
  • Hands-on experience with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes, AWS EKS, Fargate).
  • Knowledge of networking concepts (VPC, VPN, load balancers, Route 53, Direct Connect).
  • Understanding of healthcare compliance requirements (HIPAA, HITRUST, SOC 2).
  • Experience in monitoring and security tools (AWS GuardDuty, Security Hub, CloudTrail, WAF). Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
  • AWS Certified Security – Specialty or Advanced Networking certifications.
  • Experience with AI/ML cloud solutions for healthcare analytics and predictive modeling.
  • Familiarity with healthcare data standards (FHIR, HL7, DICOM).
  • Experience integrating AWS with on-premise healthcare IT environments.
  •  Knowledge of disaster recovery and high availability strategies for healthcare applications.
  • Work as a team member to fulfill requirements and tasks assigned by the Reporting Officer Excellent communication and presentation skills to effectively convey analytical findings to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
