Senior / Speech Therapist*
Overview:
The Senior Speech Therapist is responsible for assisting in the management of a specialised workgroup and for providing specialized assessment and treatment to patients referred to speech therapy. S/He will assist in the supervision of speech therapists deployed to the workgroup.
Primary responsibilities:
• Assess and manage patients referred to speech therapy independently and implement appropriate treatment plans, applying specialized speech therapy knowledge and skills.
• Report to referring doctor and other members of the medical team.
• Document patient speech therapy records accurately.
• Charge patients accurately.
• Update individual performance statistical records regularly.
• Comply with clinical and service standards.
• Assist in the supervision and training of speech therapists in the workgroup.
• Practice within areas of professional competence and seek clinical support from supervisor / other healthcare professionals when appropriate.
Secondary responsibilities:
• Collaborate with other healthcare members and participate in case conferences.
• Assist in the preparation of monthly performance reports for the workgroup.
• Assist in the monitoring of key performance indicators of the workgroup (clinical / service quality, revenue and productivity).
• Co-lead clinical research projects related to the workgroup.
• Oversee regular update of inventory for therapy equipment.
• Assist in reviewing and updating clinical protocols and SOPs.
• Assist in the management of projects assigned to the workgroup.
• Co-lead in departmental activities (eg QC).
• Assist in developing, promoting and marketing new clinical services.
• Assist in budgeting for the workgroup.
• Assist in the development and co-ordination of clinical education programme for speech therapy students attached to the workgroup.
• Assist in the induction of new speech therapists deployed to the workgroup.
• Contribute to departmental inservice training programmes, hospital educational talks and external talks / workshops / forums / seminars.
• Assist in the identification the training needs of staff in the workgroup.
• Network strategically with healthcare practitioners in AH.
• Actively update speech therapy knowledge and skills.
Requirements
• Recognised Degree in Speech Therapy that is recognized in Singapore.
• Registered with the Allied Health Professions Council.
• 4 years of relevant work experience preferred.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Good supervisory and coaching skills.
• Service oriented and customer focused.
• Result oriented.
• Team worker.
• Competent in IT skills (Microsoft Excel / Word / Access / Powerpoint)
