Overview
Overseeing the core administrative, operational and financial support functions of the Department of Laboratory Medicine (DLM). The role ensures efficient billing operations, sound financial stewardship, effective manpower administration, integrated supply chain and capital management, and robust governance in support of 24x7 laboratory clinical services.
The position serves as a key interface between clinical operations and corporate functions, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, optimisation of resources, and alignment with institutional strategy while enabling high-quality patient care delivery.
Job Responsibilities
Laboratory Operations & Workflows
- Manages general laboratory administrative & operations, driving process improvements to enhance operational efficiency, service reliability and accreditation readiness. Maintains operational SOPs as execution guides for consistent service delivery, provides coordination support for departmental activities and projects, and performs operational data analysis and reporting to support performance monitoring and decision‑making.
Finance and Billing
- Oversees and supervises the daily operations of the Department Billing Team, manages the ned-to-end revenue cycle including reconciliation of charges and resolution of billing discrepancies. Oversees financial reporting, variance analysis and budget forecasting to support operational planning and audit readiness.
Workforce Operations
- Develops, reviews, and implements departmental HR policies, guidelines, and SOPs aligned with hospital-wide HR frameworks and labour regulations. Maintains clear staff communication channels to enable effective self‑service and timely issue resolution and provides operational guidance on policy interpretation and workforce‑related matters that may affect service readiness.
Supply and Logistics Management
- Leads the annual capital planning process for laboratory equipment and systems to ensure operational readiness and alignment with service demand. Oversees procurement and execution of approved capital projects, including tendering and vendor evaluation, and manages inventory and supply chain operations to ensure uninterrupted availability of laboratory supplies critical to daily operations.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant discipline
- More than 5 years of relevant experience
- Strong analytical, organisational, and communication skills
- Experience in healthcare operations, finance, or supply chain is advantageous
- Working knowledge of AI-enabled tools, robotic process automation, or workflow automation to streamline repetitive and administrative tasks
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, operational healthcare environment
- Possess confidence to resonate with senior management leadership – internal and external stakeholders
- Ability to multi-task and work under tight timelines
- Excellent communication, problem solving, presentation, negotiation and interpersonal skill
