Associate AI Developer (Short Term Contract)

We are seeking an Associate AI Developer to join the AI Core team to support the design, development and delivery of a digital solution for the Project Metatarsal initiative, focused on consolidating and operationalising clinical workflows, patient education materials and care pathway content across orthopaedic services. The role will involve building and maintaining application components, data pipelines and integrations to structure and surface multidisciplinary clinical content for both clinician and patient use, while progressively embedding AI capabilities such as intelligent search, retrieval, summarisation and conversational interfaces to enhance knowledge access and workflow support. The successful candidate will work closely with clinical, operational and transformation stakeholders to translate requirements into a scalable, secure and user-friendly solution, and contribute to establishing reusable AI-enabled capabilities that can be extended to other clinical use cases within AI Core.

Requirements:

• Strong hands-on experience in software engineering (e.g. Python, JavaScript/TypeScript) and building end-to-end applications

• Experience with applied AI/ML or LLM frameworks (e.g. retrieval, embeddings, conversational agents)

• Ability to design and implement APIs, data pipelines and system integrations

• Experience working with structured and unstructured data in content-rich environments

• Familiarity with cloud platforms and deployment practices (e.g. Azure or equivalent)

• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to prototype and iterate quickly

• Ability to collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders and translate domain requirements into technical solutions

• Experience in healthcare, workflow applications or knowledge management systems is advantageous
