Responsible for the triage of specialist outpatient (SOC) appointment requests received from various referral streams to divisions under Department of Medicine. The overall objectives are to:
a) improve clinical care by right-siting patients to appropriate specialties;
b) improve clinical safety by triaging patients to early appointments as clinically required;
c) consolidate appointments for patients where appropriate;
d) manage overall wait times for appointments;
e) reduce no-show to appointments, especially first visit.
Job Duties
- Reduce no show of first visit appointments by calling patients to confirm their attendance, and assist in any cancelations, rescheduling, or adhoc patient enquiry.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of Department plans to right-site or consolidate new (or outstanding) outpatient referrals via risk stratification on the basis of available historical clinical, biochemical and radiological information.
- Work closely with appointed Clinical Heads and Clinic Managers of Department of Medicine, to plan outpatient visit as per available clinic slot based on estimated urgency to be seen.
- Communicate and coordinate with referring healthcare stakeholders (e.g. NUP, Call Centre, Wards, patients) regarding the outcome of the outpatient referrals request made.
- Collate and evaluate appointment wait time data for review by the Department, and assist in preparation of management reports.
- Ensure that appropriate and complete documentation about appointment allocation and triaging is performed and maintained, with adherence to PDPA policies.
- Participate in projects to improve processes related to appointment wait time management.
- Perform any other administrative duties as assigned by the reporting officer.
Job Requirements
- Possess a Diploma in Biomedical Science, Life Sciences, General Science or related fields; Registered Nurses with a Degree in Nursing are welcome to apply
- Relevant working experience in a healthcare environment would be an added advantage
- Possess strong interpersonal, organisational and communication skills
- Able to multi-task, work independently and as a team
- Possess knowledge and skills necessary to track, analyse and present data trends
- Proficient in IT applications and MS Office (Word / Excel / PowerPoint)
