Overview

We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Biostatistician to join NUHS Research Office. The role will play a crucial role spearheading clinical trial activity in NUHS, enhancing not only the cluster’s standing but Singapore reputation as a premier site for clinical trials in alignment with the national strategy. They will take the lead in driving, implementing, and overseeing statistical analyses for various clinical trials and biomedical research projects. They will direct and be accountable for statistical work, scientific and operational, for clinical trials in collaboration with the clinical trial team. The role will also take the lead as course director and develop and teach statistics courses within PhD/Master programs as well as conducting workshops and talks on biostats to the wider NUHS research community. As the lead of the unit, the role is also required to mentor, guide and develop the staff under their care. This position requires a strong background in both statistics and biological sciences, as well as excellent leadership and communication skills.

 

Job Responsibilities

You will be responsible for the following:

  • Enhancing the attractiveness of NUHS as a global clinical trial site by overseeing and conducting statistical tasks as part of developing the clinical trial methodology
  • Growing and cementing NUHS’s reputation as a leader in conducting compliant, effective and risk mitigated clinical trials by overseeing and conducting statistical tasks for ongoing clinical trials
  • Spearheading research activities including grant and publication submissions to increase the success rates for NUHS.
  • Augmenting biostatistical knowledge and application across NUHS by promoting medical research practice and methodology via statistical consultations
  • Directing course development, teaching and conducting workshops in biostatistics
  • Leading the Biostatistics Unit; including providing strategic leadership and mentorship to the unit.

 

Requirements

  • PH.D. in Statistics or related qualification
  • Proven track record in senior manager function, with outstanding management abilities and a demonstrated track record of leadership
  • Minimum 20 years relevant experience (including min 10 years in managerial and supervisory role)
  • Strong expertise with a comprehensive understanding of designing and analyzing various types of clinical research studies, including clinical trials and epidemiological research
  • Proficient in SPSS/STATA/SAS/R/Canvas
  • Substantial experience in teaching
  • Possess confidence to resonate with senior management leadership – internal and external stakeholders
  • Ability to multi-task and work independently under tight timelines
  • Good analytical and organization skills
  • Excellent communication, problem solving, presentation, negotiation and interpersonal skill
