You will be responsible to assist the nursing team in providing personalized, specialised and costeffective care to the patients in accordance to established hospital policies and procedures, standards of nursing care and practices.
Job Responsibilities
Primary Responsibility
- Assists the Registered Nurse (RN) in the following:
- Admission, transfer and discharge of patients
- Patient care activities such as monitoring, documenting and reporting of patients’ conditions and progress; escalating and notifying RN of all unusual observations or happenings
- Preparation of trolleys and equipment for ward-based procedures, e.g. blood culture, CVP / PICC, intra-pleural drain, lumbar puncture etc
- Perioperative care, e.g. preoperative preparation, sending and receiving patients from operating theatres / endoscopy
- Perform basic cardiac life support
- Attends to patients’ care needs in their activities of living, such as bathing, feeding and toileting, skin care, lifting, mobilising and transportation
- Practices safe care within own level of competency
- Adhere to proper use and care of equipment
- Maintains a clean and safe working environment
Secondary Responsibility
- Performs basic computer updates according to patient’s care
- Participates in continuing professional development activities to maintain competency in areas of practice
- Participates in quality improvement activities
- Performs any other additional duties as assigned by Unit Nurse Leader
Senior Roles Additional Responsibility
- Provides patient and / or family education during patient’s admission. Contributes to the development of ward-based patient educational material.
- Supports, collaborates and co-operates with team members and other healthcare professionals
- Performs general assessment of patients’ needs upon admission and daily throughout their hospital stay
- Works in collaboration with the Registered Nurse to manage and provide holistic care to meet patient’s physical and psychosocial needs
- Observes, monitors, evaluates, and documents patients’ general condition and progress. Reports any deviations from the norm to the Registered Nurse
- Writes and hands over report of patients under her management
- Contributes to effective multidisciplinary teamwork by maintaining good interpersonal relations with nursing colleagues and other healthcare providers to achieve smooth delivery of care
- Mentors Senior Enrolled Nurses, Enrolled Nurses, Health Care Assistants and nursing students
- Responsible for equipment/maintenance schedules, and stock control
Requirements
- Minimal NITEC in Nursing certification
- A recognized Enrolled Nurse Certificate or equivalent as approved by Singapore Nursing Board
- Good interpersonal and communication skills
- Compassionate, positive and caring nature
