The NUHS Group Communications Office drives communications strategies and projects at the cluster level for the National University Health System (NUHS). The Manager/Senior Manager will be part of a media team that is responsible for liaising with the media to secure impactful coverage and manage crisis communications.

S/he is expected to lead and execute media strategies and publicity plans that enhance the public profile of NUHS, including the conceptualisation of news angles and crafting of compelling media narratives.  The incumbent supports the Media Team Lead in the organisation of high-profile media events and announcements.

The Manager/Senior Manager must have experience in managing crisis communications, and be able to take the lead in managing sensitive communications, including high-stakes issues related to patient safety or service incidents.  S/he must be able to provide strategic counsel to senior leadership on communication risks, reputational impact, and response plans.

The incumbent is required to lead discussions with media partners and internal stakeholders, and navigate complex stakeholder environments with confidence, clarity and professionalism. 

Job Responsibilities

The Manager/Senior Manager will be responsible for the following:

  • Develop and execute media strategies and publicity plans to enhance NUHS’ public profile
  • Conceptualise and pitch newsworthy stories, and craft clear, compelling media materials (e.g. press releases, media replies, speeches)
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with media partners to secure impactful coverage across key platforms
  • Manage media queries, including complex and sensitive issues, in a timely and professional manner
  • Lead or support crisis communications efforts, including drafting key messages, coordinating responses, and managing reputational risks
  • Plan and support media events, press conferences and major announcements
  • Work closely with stakeholders across NUHS entities to align messaging and communications efforts
  • Monitor and analyse media coverage and sentiment to inform communications strategies
  • Provide guidance to junior team members and contribute to a high-performing media team

Requirements

  • Degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations or a related discipline
  • Minimum 8–10 years of relevant experience in media relations, corporate communications or public affairs (10–12+ years for Senior Manager)
  • Proven experience in developing and executing media strategies with a strong track record of securing impactful coverage
  • Experience in managing crisis communications and handling sensitive issues with sound judgement
  • Strong understanding of the media landscape and news values
  • Excellent writing and editorial skills, with the ability to translate complex information into clear and accessible narratives
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to engage and influence internal and external partners
  • Ability to work independently and under pressure in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong organisational and project management capabilities
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and presentation skills
