To perform laboratory diagnostic procedures and related activities so as to provide a quality laboratory service to our customers, both internal and external.

 

Job Responsibilities

  • Receive laboratory specimens through main Pneumatic Tube delivery system.
  • Receive laboratory specimens and reject those that are unsuitable for analysis.
  • Operate the Laboratory Information System (LIS) to perform functions such as order entry (only if required), sample receipt and result query.
  • Sort and arrange samples in collection bins for different divisions and dispatch samples to correct stations.
  • Perform simple (blood, urine and other body fluids) processing and sorting.
  • Manage sample movement to and from Sample Manager, to and from Aliquoter, to off-line analysers, and to any other locations required.
  • Receive and respond to enquiries from Customers at Reception desk on samples movement, or be able to escalate to suitable personnel when they are unclear.
  • Perform basic rapid testing.
  • Alert appropriate laboratory personnel of critical values.
  • Undertake preventive maintenance on laboratory instrumentation.
  • Notify appropriate laboratory personnel when laboratory instruments malfunction.
  • Notify appropriate laboratory personnel when test kits, reagents or other supplies should be re-ordered.
  • Report any adverse incidents to senior member of staff.
  • Perform shift duties as required.
  • Keep current with new instrumentation, techniques and procedures by attending/participating in appropriate workshops, seminars and in-service education classes.
  • Comply with good laboratory practice as set out by the Laboratory Accreditation Programme of the College of American Pathologists and Singapore regulatory agencies such as the Medical Audit & Accreditation Unit 14. Receive and resolve queries from customers.
  • Comply with all requirements of the Laboratory Safety Manual.

Requirements

  • Higher NITEC 
  • Relevant clinical laboratory experience is an advantage
  • Good laboratory skills
  • No colour blindness
  • Basic computer skills
  • Service oriented and customer focused
  • Good team player and have good interpersonal skills
