Responsibilities and Duties

To perform duplex scan and other vascular examinations as follows:

  • Duplex scan of the carotid and the peripheral arterial system of both upper and lower extremities (to rule out peripheral arterial disease or aneurysm)
  • Venous duplex scan (to rule out venous thrombosis and insufficiency of the extremities
  • Duplex of visceral arteries such as SMA and celiac artery
  • Surveillance scan of abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA), AAA stent graft, pseudoaneurysm, post-arterial bypass grafts and vascular access to facilitate optimal timing of surgical intervention.
  • Assist surgeon in ultrasound-guided thrombin injection to treat patients with pseudoaneurysm.
  • Perform comparative studies involving treadmill, pressure studies and photoplethysmography.
  • Perform procedures in a manner to ensure patient confidentiality, safety, comfort, and privacy.
  • Demonstrate competent clinical skills and knowledge in the delivery of patient care.
  • Demonstrate proper and economical use of consumables and supplies.
  • Maintain a clean and safe working environment.
  • To participate in ongoing research for vascular diagnostic services
  • Participate in quality improvement projects.
  • Interaction with doctors, nurses, and healthcare professionals from other department to optimize vascular service provided and increase awareness of the vascular service to meet the clinical needs of patients.
  • Attend in-service lectures, courses, and seminars.
  • Assume additional responsibilities as assigned by the Reporting Officer.

 

Requirements

• Degree in Biomedical Science/Medical Technology or related field

• Competent in Microsoft software (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)

• Good interpersonal and effective communication skills.

• Able to step-up and provide coverage for lab partner during shortage of manpower.

• Able to demonstrate efforts to problem-solve business-as-usual (BAU) issues.

• Able to work independently and in a team-based environment.

• Strong attention to detail, critical thinking, and technical skills for operating equipment.
