Job Description for Department of Otolaryngology Head & Neck Surgery (ENT)
Doctors with a recognized medical qualification by the Singapore Medical Council and fully registered in their countries. Has at least 24 months postgraduate experience, with a minimum of 12 months in an Otolaryngology Department as a registrar, resident, medical officer or senior house officer.
Must be competent in the following,

Knowledge of common otolaryngology conditions, related head and neck pathology, anatomy and physiology

Diagnosis, patient care and management of common otolaryngology conditions, including emergencies related to otolaryngology

Basic office-based and emergency otolaryngology procedures
-
Flexible and rigid nasal, laryngeal, endoscopy
-
Aural toilet
-
Intra-tympanic injections
-
Removal of foreign body in the pharynx, nose and ear
-
Epistaxis management
-
Fine needle aspiration of lumps in the Head & Neck
-
Toilet and suture of lacerations in the Head & Neck
-
Nasogastric tube insertion
-
Tracheostomy care and management
-
Incision and drainage of head & neck abscess
Major Duties and Responsibilities
-
Participate as an active member of the ENT team on inpatient rounds
-
Manage patients with otolaryngology conditions in the outpatient clinics under the supervision of a consultant
-
Perform stay-in level 1 calls attending to otolaryngology inpatients and emergency referrals, under the supervision of level 2 senior residents and level 3 consultants
-
Assist in otolaryngology procedures and surgeries in the day surgical centre and major operating room

Escalate to a senior doctor / consultant in complex case management

Attend teaching activities for junior doctors

Participate in teaching for medical students

Perform administrative duties as required e.g. medical reports, preparing morbidity rounds
