Senior Patient Service Associate (Inpatient Wards)*
Inpatient Operations Service Associate Team (Inpatient Ward SAs) is a team that provides administrative support in our wards, you will deliver friendly and efficient customer service and create a warm and welcoming atmosphere for all internal and external customers / patients, with the key aim of providing excellent patient care and satisfaction. The role requires you will assist the Senior Team Leader and Inpatient Operations Managers in coordinating daily ground operations and ensuring service delivery standards are met. You will support the implementation of hospital policies and operational initiatives, and contribute to process improvements. Additionally, you will play a key role in supporting team performance by guiding new staff, sharing important updates, and highlight operational issues for improvement.
Job Responsibilities*
You will be responsible for the following:
Operational Excellence and Patient Care Support
- Manage patient admissions, discharges, and transfers efficiently and accurately.
- Ensure proper maintenance of patient records and data security.
- Coordinate post-discharge appointments and manage ward counter operations.
- Review and verification of patient charges and ensure patient bill amendment rectifications for service recovery.
- Handle internal/external communications and interdepartmental liaison.
- Manage inventory and address operational issues promptly.
Financial Counselling
- Conduct bedside financial counselling.
- Assist patients with payment processes and forms.
- Identify and refer patients for appropriate financial assistance.
- Review and verify patient charges for accuracy.
Process Improvement and Quality Assurance
- Support compliance with organisational policies and audit standards.
- Contribute to workflow improvements and quality enhancement initiatives.
- Participate in cross-departmental projects and value stream mapping workshops.
- Maintain accurate departmental statistics and reports.
Staff Empowerment and Support
- Assist in daily operations, manpower planning, and rostering.
- Coach and mentor junior team members.
- Support staff onboarding, training, and competency assessments.
- Contribute to conflict resolution and team performance improvement.
Strategic Planning and Organisational Development (For JG8-9)
- Contribute to team development aligned with SA Job Redesign efforts.
- Assist in planning for IGH Ward SA team expansion.
- Help develop and review learning plans for staff.
- Support the maintenance and improvement of ward counter standards.
Requirements*
Qualification Required and Area of Discipline
- GCE O levels/A levels/Diploma /Nitec/Higher Nitec from any discipline.
- Strong analytical, communication and interpersonal skills with positive “can do” attitude. Ability to speak a second language will be an advantage.
- Good customer service skills. Prior experience in hospitality or service industries will be an advantage.
- Good coordinating and organising skills. Prior supervisory experience will be an advantage.
- Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment. Candidates should be comfortable/flexible with working in a hospital setting and in different wards when needed.
- Proficient in computer skills (Microsoft Office), handling multiple systems will be an advantage.
- Able to perform 2 rotating shifts (include weekends and public holidays) on a 5 days’ work week.
- Earliest shift starts from 8am and latest shift ends at 8pm/9pm.
