Senior / Staff Nurse, Angiography Centre, NUHCS

Patient Population:

Care of patient from pre-procedure preparations to post-procedure recovery period until patient discharge or transfer to inpatient ward.

Cases include:

• Elective admission or inpatient who requires
  • coronary angiogram with or without coronary angioplasty.
  • peripheral vascular angiogram with or without angioplasty.
  • electrophysiology study with or without radiofrequency ablation.
  • cardiovascular implantable electronic devices.
  • congenital or structural heart interventions.
• Emergency STEMI activation patient who requires primary percutaneous coronary intervention.
• Inpatient Paediatric patient who requires congenital heart disease studies or interventions.

Specific Roles and Responsibilities: 

• Perform day surgery admissions and discharge processes.
• Assist interventionist to perform sterile invasive procedures under radiation.
• Assist anaesthetist in the administration of anaesthetic and application of airway adjuncts for procedures using general anaesthesia.
• Collaborate with SOC and case coordinators to maintain efficient scheduling system.
• Ensure patient safety based on procedure safety protocols involves steps to minimise risks and ensure a safe and effective treatment.
• Coordinate cases in the day to ensure effective room utilisations versus patient’s listing.
• Communicate with inpatient ward teams to ensure -adequate preparation, safe transfer and optimal post procedure care of patients.
• Support and facilitate Western cluster STEMI activation workflow with the emergency department.
• Assist structural team to perform elective or emergency coronary angioplasty in operating theatre.
• Engage in bed booking with the bed management unit and inpatient wards.

Specific Knowledge and Skills:

• Angiography unit induction
• NUH Basic Radiation Safety Course (E-Learning module)
• Moderate sedation course
• Knowledge on coronary diseases, congenital heart diseases, structural heart diseases, cardiac electrophysiology diseases and peripheral vascular diseases.
