Primary Responsibilities and Duties (80%) 

  • Assesses patients’ biopsychosocial and cultural needs to formulate individualised care plans.
  • Performs basic nursing care in supporting patient’s holistic care.
  • Participates in managing complex clinical patient care Plans and intervenes treatments plan as prescribed by physicians/ APNs.
  • Participates actively in physicians’ round.
  • Prepares and assists physicians with procedures performed on patient.
  • Consistently applies ethical principles in decision-making and patient care.
  • Evaluates and monitors patients’ progress according to the planned care to ensure continuity of care.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of nursing observations, interventions and evaluations on recommended charts.
  • Demonstrates competency in clinical skills, knowledge and critical thinking in the safe delivery of patient care.
  • Promotes interdisciplinary collaboration through effective communication and collaboration with patients, families, and healthcare team to ensure continuity and optimal patient outcomes.
  • Delivers safe and competent nursing care.
  • Follows-up to ensure continuity of patient care and treatment plans.
  • Displays compassion, a positive and caring attitude towards patients as well as to internal and external clients.
  • Collaborates and co-operates with physicians and other health-care providers in the smooth delivery of patient care and services.
  • Provides relevant health education and training to patient/family to promote self-care and disease management.
  • Demonstrates proficiency in using healthcare equipment, technology and information systems.
  • Participates in cost-containment initiatives without compromising patient outcomes.
  • Maintains a clean and safe working environment.
  • Precepts and coaches new/junior staff in their work as well as nursing students on 
    posting
  • Assumes the role of Staff Nurse in-charge/Deputy Nurse Manager
  • Facilitates team dynamics and the smooth running of activities in the ward/dept.
  • Manages complex patient care.
  • Supports new initiates/lead changes implemented by the Nursing Administration.
  • Demonstrates competency in all core competencies and unit specific programs implemented by Nursing Administration. 

Secondary Responsibilities and Duties (20%) 

  • Supervises and supports junior staff and students, fostering a collaborative learning environment.
  • Assumes Preceptor role to new joinee.
  • Assumes Staff Nurse in-charge role during nursing officer absence.
  • Manages team dynamics and ensures ward operational efficiency.
  • Lead in complex case discussion for challenging discharge planning.
  • Participate in education, quality improvement, research and innovation intervention to enhance patient care and outcomes.
  • Maintain and enhance evidence-based nursing and healthcare industry knowledge through continuous learning and professional education.

  • Assumes additional responsibilities as assigned by Nursing Officers, Senior Nursing Officers, Assistant/Deputy Director (Nursing) and Chief Nurse.
