The Opportunity:

We are looking for Senior / Staff Nurse (SOC - Pre-Anaesthesia Screening Nurse) to join us to provide high quality patient care.

Job Responsibilities:

The incumbent shall be responsible to:

• Conduct comprehensive and systematic pre-operative assessments for patients undergoing procedures requiring anaesthesia.
• Review and evaluate patients' medical history, medication profiles, allergies, and investigation results.
• Identify and assess perioperative risks, escalating concerns appropriately when necessary.
• Provide pre-operative education, counselling, and support to patients and their families.
• Interpret 12-lead ECG findings, recognise abnormalities, identify critical values in routine blood investigations, and escalate findings as appropriate.
• Recognise early signs of clinical deterioration and promptly escalate concerns to the anaesthetist when required.
• Perform venepuncture and carry out basic patient assessments, including monitoring and recording vital signs.
• Ensure accurate documentation and compliance with established clinical protocols and patient safety standards.

Job Requirements: 

• Diploma in Nursing or State Registered Nurse (SRN) qualification.
• An Advanced Diploma in Nursing or equivalent qualification is preferred for candidates applying for the Senior Staff Nurse position.
• Minimum 3 to 5 years of recent acute care nursing experience.
• Prior experience in surgical listing, coordination of elective surgical cases, and peri-anaesthesia care will be advantageous, including but not limited to:
  • Regional anaesthesia and general anaesthesia (GA)
  • Perioperative patient monitoring
  • Post-Anaesthesia Care Unit (PACU) management
  • Post-operative care in a ward setting
• Ability to work independently with strong clinical judgement, interpersonal skills, and effective communication abilities.
• Strong team player with the ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams and departments to deliver safe, high-quality, and efficient patient care.
• Demonstrates professionalism, adaptability, and a commitment to continuous learning and service excellence.
