Sr Manager, Total Workplace Safety and Health
Overview
We are seeking an experienced and dedicated professional to lead operational work under the NUHS Total Workplace Safety and Health (TWSH) initiative. The candidate will support the Chair of the NUHS TWSH Oversight Committee and Portfolio Lead for TWSH to align practices and policies across the various institutions in the NUHS cluster. The candidate will also be required to collaborate with NUHS institutions to develop, implement, and sustain comprehensive safety and health programmes for their workplaces and their staff. The aim is to foster a NUHS cluster-wide culture of best practices in WSH and establish policies to protect our staff in their workplaces.
Job Responsiblities
Strategy Alignment
- Develop and oversee the implementation of workplace safety and health policies and procedures for NUHS cluster, and ensure compliance with national safety regulations and standards adopted by Ministry of Manpower
- Manage operational dashboard for entire NUHS cluster, working with respective NUHS institutions to develop and track key performance metrics for reporting to NUHS Senior Leadership
- Represent NUHS as a member of the Community of Practice for Healthcare WSHOs under the WSH Council
Institutional level collaboration
- Support and guide NUHS institutions' efforts in achieving and maintaining bizSAFE Level 3 certification or ISO45001 Occupational Health and Safety Management System
- Act as a liaison between various NUHS institutions to ensure consistent implementation of NUHS policies and standards
- Organize and facilitate inter-institutional meetings and workshops to promote best practices and knowledge sharing
- Conduct regular risk assessments and safety audits across all NUHS institutions
- Attend RHSO and/or any other institutions' WSH Committee meetings as Advisor
Awareness and Communications
- Develop a communications strategy and plan to educate NUHS staff on WSH practices, including providing training during staff orientation
- Create and distribute regular safety communications and updates to all relevant stakeholders across the NUHS cluster.
NUHS Total Workplace Safety & Health Secretariat role
- Perform secretariat duties for NUHS TWSH Oversight Committee, including scheduling meetings, preparing agendas, taking minutes, and following up on action items
- Work with NUHS TWSH Community of Practice members to consolidate WSH information e.g. new legal requirement, leading and lagging indicators for reporting.
Budgeting
- Collaborating with stakeholders to develop a budget which aligns with the project objectives
Other related tasks and duties
- Any other duties or tasks assigned by the Reporting Officer.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Engineering, or a related field
- Minimum bizSAFE Level 2 certification or equivalent
- Preferably to be a registered Workplace Safety and Health Officer (WSHO) with the Ministry of Manpower (MOM)
- Preferably to have experience in ISO 45001 & BizSafe Level 3 certification and implementation
- At least 5 years of experience in a senior healthcare role
- Ability to effectively engage with diverse audiences (including senior management of various NUHS institutions, e.g. CEOs, COOs, CHROs, etc)
- Strong organizational and project management skills
- Strong ability to translate workplans into implementation with multiple stakeholders
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
